What if idolatry isn’t just about what we bow down to... but what we build our lives around?

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s people repeatedly struggled with idols. They turned to other gods for protection, provision, identity, and hope. And while we may not have statues sitting in our homes, the temptation hasn’t disappeared. We can still place our trust in things, people, success, relationships, money, comfort, or control... believing they will give us what only God can provide.

In this four-week series, Second Altars, we’ll take an honest look at the idols that compete for our hearts. We’ll discover how idolatry often begins with good things becoming ultimate things... and how easily we can put something else in God’s place without even realizing it.

Because the question isn’t simply, “What do I worship?”
The better question may be... “What am I trusting above all else?”

Second altars are anything we place alongside God... or above Him. And sometimes the altar we need to tear down isn’t in front of us... it’s within us.
